This week a new Instagram update has been launched by Facebook. Actually, the automatic sharing of activity from instagram has been eliminated from the Instagram iOS application directly to Facebook accounts.

In fact, the change in version 5.0.11 has removed the automatic sharing of activity to Facebook. Instagram users are only able to share deliberately their photos, using the in-app share button. Instagram activities and likes will no longer be shared on Facebook.

The update’s release states: “Updated Facebook share settings: Continue sharing your Instagram photos and videos on Facebook. But Instagram likes and activity will no longer be shared on Facebook”

The reasons why did Facebook omit this feature are not obvious yet. But it has been speculated that the feature used monthly by almost 200 million may clutter people’s Facebook timelines and notification boxes.

Now that the focus is on voluntary sharing (qualitative) rather than automatic sharing (quantitative), Facebookers will find less Instagram notifications on their account.
